What is Mem?
Mem is the fastest way to capture, connect, and share information. It's as simple as Apple Notes and powered by a collaborative graph database. It features lightning fast capture, always-on search, and seamless collaboration—all in one place.
What is a mem?
A mem is a container of information (i.e. a note), from a nascent thought to a fully-fledged document.
What are Topic Tags?
Say goodbye to folders — Topic Tags are a flexible way to add a lightweight level of organization to your mems. Topic Tags denote a collection of mems, and you can use Topic Tags by typing the # symbol followed by the name of the topic. If you tag multiple mems with the same Topic Tag, they'll be grouped together, and you'll see that Mem pulls up related information about the topic in the sidebar.
What are Linked Mems?
Linked Mems are links to existing mems. Linked Mems are bi-directional connections that help you create traversable webs of knowledge. To use Linked Mems, simply type the + sign followed by the title of the mem you want to reference. If a mem has been linked multiple times, you'll see that Mem pulls up related information in the sidebar.
What's the best way to organize mems?
You can organize mems with Linked Mems and with Topic Tags. In a nutshell, we recommend using Linked Mems for nouns/entities, where there should be a single, canonical mem to represent it. In practice, this is often a single person, project, company, recipe, etc. We recommend using Topic Tags to label a mem as part of a category. In practice, these feel like “type annotations” within mems: #meetings, #people, #companies, #recipes, etc.
What's the difference between Timeline and Inbox?
Your Timeline is the home surface of Mem, where you can browse mems you've created, edited, or viewed in chronological order — all your mems live in your Timeline, by default. Your Inbox is a space to curate and manage your personal workflow — you must deliberately add mems to your Inbox — as well as a surface for collaboration (mems shared with you will appear in your inbox, for example). In practice, Inbox can be used as a collaborate surface, as a space to keep important mems, or as a space to keep a list of mems that "still need attention."
What are Flows?
help you automate your workflows — so you can create mems faster, spend less time organizing, and free up your mindspace for things that matter. Currently, you can make use of three Flows: Templates, Daily Mems, and Texts. With Templates, you can create and quickly re-use snippets of mems wherever you are. With your Daily Mem, you can customize a mem that'll be automatically created for you each day. And with Texts, you can use SMS, Whatsapp, or Telegram to text Mem so that whatever you text will flow into both your Timeline and Inbox, perfect for taking notes on-the-go.
How do I invite someone to Mem?
Invite your friends to Mem with the invite button in the top right corner of the app. Just type in their email address to send them an invitation to Mem and help them bypass the waitlist. The more, the merrier — you'll have 5 invites to start!
How do I share a mem with someone?
Sharing a mem is as easy as @ mentioning another user anywhere in the mem you'd like to share. Even a teammate isn't on Mem, you can @ mention any person to send an email invitation to collaborate. Multiple people can edit the same mem, at the same time, without interrupting what others are typing.
