Mem 2.0 Dev Update #3: Smarter Chat
In this update, we’re giving you a closer look at how we’re making Chat in Mem 2.0 smarter than ever.
Chat in Mem has been a cornerstone of our mission to help you leverage your knowledge to the fullest and unlock your best ideas. It allows you to interact with your knowledge in conversation, as you would with a thought partner. Chat pinpoints needle-in-a-haystack answers in your notes, synthesizes your knowledge, creates new content for you, and even prompts you to uncover things you didn't even think to ask.
In Mem 2.0, we’re taking Chat to the next level by giving it a richer, more contextual understanding of your knowledge, while also making the experience even more seamless.
1. Understanding of time
In Mem 2.0, we've designed Chat to have a deep understanding of time relative to your knowledge. Soon, you’ll be able to ask Chat about “the draft I wrote yesterday”, “the meeting with Christina last month”, or “the candidates I talked to last week.”
2. Comprehensive recall & synthesis
Chat responses will be more comprehensive than ever. Before, when responding to questions that required synthesis of many pieces of information, Chat would select a sample of relevant knowledge from your notes to formulate a response. In Mem 2.0, Chat will gather every piece of relevant knowledge you have on a topic and ensure the comprehensive set of knowledge is considered in its response.
3. Chat side-by-side with notes and collections
We’re introducing the ability to Chat side-by-side with a specific note or collection. This gives you even more precision and focus in your conversations and ensures the discussion is relevant to exactly what you’re working on. This also allows you to interact with a note or a collection without interrupting the flow of your dialogue with Chat.
4. Ability to mention a note or collection
You will be able to @ mention a specific note or collection in Chat, giving you greater control in your conversations by helping you pinpoint exactly what you want to discuss.
5. Verifiable information at-a-glance
In Mem 2.0, Chat will provide inline source annotations so you can see exactly where an answer comes from. We’ve also redesigned fact cards in Chat to only show facts that have been verified to be grounded in your existing knowledge.
This wraps up our third installment of Mem 2.0 development updates, where we share the details on what to expect when Mem 2.0 arrives later this year. In case you missed it, you can read our last Mem 2.0 development update about improvements to speed and dependability.
