Heads Up

Heads Up is Mem's real-time context panel. The moment you open or create a note, Mem looks at who you're meeting with, what's being discussed, and what you're working on—then surfaces relevant notes before you think to look for them.

What is Heads Up in Mem?

Heads Up is Mem's context panel — a right-hand sidebar that automatically surfaces related notes, past meeting timelines, and relevant collections the moment you open or create a note. It requires no manual setup, tagging, or linking. Mem reads the context of what you're working on and brings the right information to the surface, including things you captured months ago that are suddenly relevant again.

What's the difference between Heads Up and Mem Chat?

Heads Up is passive and automatic — it surfaces context without you asking. Mem Chat is active and conversational — you ask specific questions and it searches your workspace to answer them. They work best together: Heads Up gives you ambient context while you work, and Chat is there when you need to dig for something specific or synthesize across many notes.

How is Heads Up different from Granola, Notion AI, or other meeting tools?

Most meeting tools generate notes from a single conversation. Heads Up connects that meeting to your entire history — past sessions with the same person, related research, prior decisions, open action items — and surfaces all of it automatically. It's the difference between a transcript of today's call and a full briefing on everything relevant to it, assembled without any effort on your part.

What are Meeting Briefings in Mem, and how do they work?

Meeting Briefings is a Pro beta feature that shows a pre-meeting summary inside the Heads Up panel before each event. Using your calendar integration, Mem pulls relevant context from your past notes — who you've met with, what was covered, what's still open — and presents it as a briefing before the meeting starts. You can rate each one with a thumbs up or down to help improve the quality over time. Requires calendar integration and a Pro account.

What is Heads Up Live in Mem?

Heads Up Live is a Pro beta feature that activates Heads Up during any Voice Mode session. As you record — whether you're in a meeting, doing a brain dump, or dictating notes on the go — Heads Up listens to the audio, identifies topics being mentioned, and surfaces related notes from your workspace in real time. Unlike static meeting tools that surface context only before or after a call, Heads Up Live brings relevant information to the surface exactly when it comes up. Available on Web and Desktop with a Pro account.

Does Heads Up work on mobile?

Yes. On iOS, swipe in from the right edge of the screen or tap the double-arrow icon to reveal Heads Up. Meeting Timeline and Related Topic Bundles work the same as on desktop. Heads Up Live is currently available on Web and Desktop only.

Can I customize what Heads Up surfaces?

Heads Up is intentionally opinionated and works without any manual configuration — no tagging, linking, or setup required. If you want broader results, hit Find More inside the panel. If you want to search for something specific, switch to Mem Chat. Meeting Briefings quality improves over time as you rate each briefing.
