Humans of Mem: Robin Dieker Shares How Mem "Changed His Life"

When Robin first started to explore Mem, it was simply to test out a new note-taking app that had piqued his curiosity.

He didn’t expect Mem to become an app that changed his life.

Mem is now his “second brain”, something so integral to his workflow that he couldn’t imagine life without it.

“Everything that’s important to me is in Mem,” Robin said. “Mem a tool I never want to be without.”

This week, we sat down with long-time Mem community member Robin Dieker, a technology consultant based in Münster, Germany, to hear about how Mem has become an essential part of his daily routine, from helping him with projects at work to uncovering insights that have profoundly impacted his well-being.

Two years ago, one of those insights led to what Robin describes as a life-changing experience.

Struggling to understand why he was experiencing lingering symptoms following a major surgery, Robin turned to Mem Chat for answers about why his recovery wasn’t progressing as expected.

Because Robin had uploaded all his health records into Mem, Chat not only drew from external knowledge on the internet, but also cross-referenced his personal documents to suggest a potential explanation none of his doctors had initially come up with.

“Mem Chat perfectly explained all my symptoms,” Robin said. Robin’s doctors also confirmed the insight that Chat had uncovered.

“I was so blown away for days. I never would have made that connection, and neither did anyone else,” Robin shared.

Robin said Mem is also “a life saver” in his work, too.

“It helps me with my forgetfulness. Whenever I need something, I just ask Chat for it. It knows what to search for, even if it’s from a long time ago or things I don’t even realize are related.”

Robin relies on Mem to prepare for his weekly team meetings. He uses Chat to synthesize key takeaways from his recent notes thanks to Mem’s deep understanding of his content. Then, he saves the Chat response as a new mem.

Robin said what makes Mem so powerful is the ability to connect the dots between his knowledge.

“Mem knows all my context,” Robin shared.

For example, when a customer approached him with an issue during a complex data migration project, he used Mem to plan and track critical details to ensure nothing slipped through the cracks.

In a Chat conversation, Mem reminded Robin to verify that the version of the software being used for the migration was compatible with the data being transferred.

“I never would have caught that,” Robin said.

The more Robin uses Mem, the more he realizes that Mem does more than just organize information.

Mem understands, connects, and transforms his knowledge into meaningful — and even life-changing — insights.
